Sports tasters were delivered at 15 venues, involving 227 young people/days participating in 20 different sports in this pilot project. This unique opportunity heightened their awareness of untried sports promoting a healthy exercise regime via an enjoyable social and community activity.
- The project established links between sports administrators, clubs and coaches via the Internet and through active sports sessions. A number of parents have contacted the appropriate NGB to further their siblings sporting interest as a result.
- The project provided parents with open access to information about potential sporting participation during the school holidays 2008 within Buckinghamshire
- The project delivered a report (attached) enabling schools to track and target areas to improve sports’ participation amongst children and young adults within the survey.
- A one-stop repository on information for the Olympic summer sports building on the Beijing Olympics and looking towards London 2012 and beyond has been established on the Web at www.sportsjunction.org.
- Participants were pleased with the activities and strong positive feedback was received many indicating ongoing interest and anticipated participation for 2009.
